Kevin de Bruyne Having Medical Ahead Of Transfer To Chelsea

The deal is believed to be for 5 and a half years with the player going immediately back on loan to Genk until the end of the season.

Chelsea are close to signing Belgian International midfielder Kevin de Bruyne who is currently in London undergoing a medical. The Blues have agreed a deal with his club Genk for a proposed £6.7 million move for the 20 year old who plays as a goal seeking midfielder and winger. The deal is believed to be for 5 and a half years with the player going immediately back on loan to Genk until the end of the season. He is a player Chelsea have reportedly been monitoring even before manager Andre Villas-Boas was hired as manager last year. de Bruyne has played 77 times professionally in Belgium for Genk where he has been his whole career, scoring 12 times. He made his full debut for the Belgium national side at the age of just 18 during a friendly against Finland in Turku. He actually has ties to London already and could have played for England before he made the decision to play for Belgium. His mother was English and was born in Ealing, West London... maybe she was even a Chelsea fan? Confirmation of the deal is expected soon.
