2. Assists
Playing slightly deeper in midfield may lead one to believe that getting many assists would be hard. That is not the case for Steven Gerrard, who has now equaled his
highest ever assist tally in the Premier League. With 13 games to go in the season, it is highly likely that Gerrard will add to that total. The England captain managed to make the Euro 2012 team of the year, in no small part thanks to his 3 assists for the three lions. Gerrard, who is relishing the opportunity to feed Luis Suarez with goal scoring chances, has utilised a wide range of passes to provide these assists, proving that even at the age of 32, he can still be creative. With Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in goal scoring form, there needs to be a link man who can supply the ball. Last season Suarez was often isolated, therefore he had to make chances for himself, but now with Gerrard picking him out, both have reached greater success. Due to Gerrard's assists, Luis Suarez, and in turn Liverpool, have not been as badly plagued by last years issue of lack of goals. It is great news for Liverpool fans that Gerrard has found his passing boots, but that is not the only tally he is increasing this season. Source(s):
