1. Goals
Every good team needs goals from all over the field, and one of Liverpool's recent problems has been their reliance on Suarez for goals. However, Steven Gerrard is getting back to his goal scoring best with already 6 league goals, which is more than either of his last two seasons. Like with his assist tally, his number of goals will surely go up, come the end of the season. Some of his goals this season have been trademark Gerrard strikes, with his last goal against city reminiscent of his wonder striker in the 2006 FA Cup final. By adding this dimension to Liverpool, their attacking options have greatly increased, particularly with shots from outside the box, as Liverpool
leads the league with goals from beyond the 18. We may never see the best of Gerrard's individual ability circa 2008/09, but what we are seeing is a resurgence in form across his entire game. Gerrard has stepped up in an attempt to push Liverpool back to the elite, and with his current form we may be close to seeing the best of Gerrard. Gerrard has had to alter his game to fit this new Liverpool system, but it would appear that he is now flourishing under Rodgers, and has once again become indispensable to Liverpool. It can be seen that Gerrard has improved in almost every facet of his game recently, and it has become increasingly clear that, Steven Gerrard has still got it! Source(s):
