Sergio Romero- Liverpool desperately need a goalkeeper to challenge Mignolet, and Argentina number one Romero has been linked with a move to Anfield. The 27-year-old Sampdoria man is a big presence, an excellent shot-stopper and far superior to current number two Jones, and would be an ideal signing. Martin Skrtel- The 29-year-old will likely be first-choice alongside Loven this season, assuming Benatia or someone of his quality doesn't come in. He was terrific last season, scoring more goals than any other defender in the league, and is at his peak. Mamadou Sakho- Despite his reputation as one of Europe's most promising young centre-backs, it looks as though Sakho will have to settle for a squad role this season. He is a fearsome defender on his day though, and will do a reliable job when called upon. Emre Can- Although just 20, Can already looks like an established player, with a huge physical frame, a good touch and an eye for a pass. The German star will be eased into the side by Rodgers, but don't be surprised to see him playing a more prominent role in the team come the end of the season. Joe Allen- The Welshman's Reds career is yet to take off, but his second-half cameo against Southampton on Sunday showed that he can be an influence. He will probably be used more from the substitutes bench, but he is a neat and tidy midfielder who can make the side tick. Rickie Lambert- The 32-year-old been bought in to add something different up front, with Liverpool lacking a target man at times last season. The former Southampton man knows his chances will be limited, but the fact that he is playing for his boyhood club should inspire him to produce the odd memorable moment. Jordan Ibe- Many feel Ibe could have a similar impact this season as Sterling did in 2013/14. The 18-year-old wide man is an exceptional talent, and his speed, power and quick feet will cause defenders problems all day, especially if he is introduced when legs are tiring.
