Liverpool Transfer News: Daniel Agger £13 Million Bid From Man City

Manchester City have made a £13 million bid for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.

The Daily Mirror. According to reports, the offer from the Premier League champions was made last week and has already been rejected by the Anfield club, despite Agger reportedly telling his new boss Brendan Rodgers that he wants to quit Liverpool. 27-year-old Agger has been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona this summer and the interest seems to have flattered Agger into thinking he can get a better deal elsewhere and challenge for the top domestic and European honours. The Danish centre-back is expected to confirm within the next fortnight whether he wants to join one of the La Liga clubs or Manchester City and he could now leave Merseyside before the start of the new season in just under three weeks time. The Danish international centre-back could replace Ivory Coast star Kolo Toure at Manchester City who has a year left to run on his contract and has been frozen out of the Etihad, with interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia outfits expected to result in a move. At Barcelona, Agger would add much needed strength in depth to the centre-half positions as injuries, suspensions and dips in form left Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique stretched at the back last season in a campaign where they missed out on the La Liga and Champions League trophies. For Madrid, he could partner ex-Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa who has flourished since he moved away from Liverpool a few seasons back.
