Liverpool Transfers: 10 Dream Alternatives To Loic Remy

5. Jackson Martinez (Porto)

Porto have insisted that they would be willing to sell Colombian striker Jackson Martinez - though any club coming in for him would need to meet his rumoured £32 million release clause if they are to take him away from Portugal. With Liverpool able to continue spending if they need to, they would be capable of meeting that clause in the 27-year-old's contract to bring the player to the Premier League. Given his ability and knack for scoring goals too, Liverpool could certainly do a lot worse than a man who scored 23 goals for Porto in 40 appearances in all competitions during the 2013/2014 season. Whilst Martinez is said to prefer a move to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger's stubbornness should again end up seeing him end the summer without another top class central striker to take the goalscoring burden from Olivier Giroud. Liverpool would provide Martinez with the competition he craves next season as they are again expected to mount a serious title challenge as well as make waves in the Champions League. The Colombian striker is due a chance in one of the bigger European leagues, and would likely jump at the chance to join the Anfield club.
