1. Wilfried Bony

Club: Swansea City Despite Newcastle United's baffling assessment that the Ivorian was not worth the transfer fee last summer that ultimately saw him head to Swansea City, Wilfried Bony had an incredible first season in Wales, despite seeing his new side struggle badly in the league. His 16 Premier League goals (as well as two in the Europa League) make his £12m fee seem like a snip, and the positive news for Liverpool - or indeed any suitors - is that he would likely be available for £19m. Bony is not the chance creator that Suarez was - indeed, he only created 25 last season to Suarez's 86, but then the Uruguayan is irreplaceable for a reason, and some of the Ivorian's other stats are up there with his potential predecessor. They both have similar passing accuracy stats, aerial battle success rates and similarly poor defensive records, but Bony's context last season is perhaps an indication of his huge potential: for a lot of the season, Bony had limited attacking support, so couldn't create chances for other team-mates, and his powerful, all-action approach would be an incredibly exciting prospect with Liverpool's greater supporting assets, and his 16 goals for last season could easily be dwarfed if Liverpool make their expected move.
