Liverpool Transfers: 11 Essential Signings To Win The League Next Year

1. Hatem Ben Arfa

Current Club: Newcastle United Though he is seemingly out of favour at Newcastle under Alan Pardew, there is no doubting that the French wizard still possesses the kind of talent on the ball that changes games. Right now, he is simply wasted on Tyneside: either left out of the picture entirely by a manager who frequently bemoans his lack of commitment to the whole cause, or employed in a system that requires him to abandon everything that makes him a great player. Considering the foundation that Liverpool should be looking to build for their new assault on the Champions League next season, Ben Arfa would have exactly the kind of conditions at Anfield that his style of play craves at Newcastle. He might not be the kind of player who will put in a defensive shift to cover other players, but it's unlikely that Liverpool would have asked John Barnes to play as a holding midfielder, or Luis Suarez not to express himself. A strong summer of preparation for Ben Arfa could see him regain his fitness, and if Newcastle are intent on selling him, Liverpool would be wise to take a punt on a player who could link up beautifully with Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge.
