Liverpool Transfers: 5 Reasons Rodgers Should Sign Samuel Eto'o
3. He Wouldn't Eat Up Marco Reus Fees
If Liverpool are indeed looking to bring in a player like Marco Reus, he's going to cost a significant proportion of their transfer budget, even with it swollen to breaking point by the £75 million received for Luis Suarez, and the more value they can get out of other moves the better. Liverpool now face a battle to get any value at all out of the last weeks of the transfer window, because every club director knows that they're flush with a lot of cash and looking for a striker who is going to get them 25-30 goals to fill the gap left by Suarez's move to Barcelona. Unfortunately, a necessity that was always going to cost a premium already is probably going to carry an even larger price-tag. With that in mind, the fact that Eto'o remains free - aside from a signing on fee and wages, that should be more than accounted for by the incoming Champions League money - is another of his big selling points. And though the lack of a price would be a major bonus, it's important to realise too that he would be a positive free transfer, and not just a squad filler.
