Liverpool Transfers: 6 Players Brendan Rodgers Must Sign

6. Brede Hangeland (Fulham)

Two years ago, Hangeland was considered one of the hottest defensive properties in the Premier League after some imperious performances in Fulham's back-line that helped the club to European qualification, and an appearance in the final of the inaugural Europa League in 2009/10. He is a tower of strength at the back, combining composure and physical strength with a classy touch and a fine passing array for a defender. Hangeland has somehow avoided the attentions of the transfer rumour mongers, perhaps because of his likely transfer fee (which would be a lot higher if he wasn't 31), but in a top four or five team Hangeland's value would increase even further, in the same manner that Rio Ferdinand's huge transfer fee that took him from West Ham to Leeds almost doubled when he moved on to Man Utd. He might not command a £30m fee, given his age, but £8m or so would surely be enough to make Fulham think twice about accepting. The Norwegian would finally offer a worthy replacement to the now long retired Sami Hyypia, and though Rodgers will no doubt prefer to sign a defender under the age of 27, Hangeland will have a good few top-level seasons in him yet. What do you think Liverpool fans? Which of these players would you like to see in the famous red of Liverpool? Share your thoughts below.
