Liverpool vs Arsenal: 5 Key Decisions Wenger Must Make

4. Start Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott Over Gervinho

Oh, poor Gervinho. His slightly over-sized forehead leaves every Arsenal fan with a baseball sized migraine. He has got the pace and the skills to beat most defenders on his day, but he is without a doubt a ball hogger, and his final ball is often poor. What Arsenal needs is a quick and incisive passer of the ball who makes clever yet devastating runs into the box, and Arshavin 2.0 here is not the answer to unlocking the Liverpool defense. We need the likes of Theo Walcott and Podolski terrorizing the slow and jaded Glen Johnson, who more often than not will be making forays into the opponent's half rather than defending. As much as Walcott is criticized for lacking a footballing brain, his 42 goals and 40 assists in 222 appearances is evidence enough that he deserves a starting place against Liverpool ahead of Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. As for Lukas Podolski, he provides enough experience and savvy every time he steps on the pitch, and his partnership with Giroud and Carzola promises to be a potent and devastating one as he gels with his fellow summer signings in an Arsenal shirt. For now, Gervinho just may need a little more time to develop his game.
