1. John Arne Riise vs Manchester United - 2001/02
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UkBb_7PPd8 There have been some unbelievable goals by Liverpool players in the 22 years since the Premier League's inception, but there has never been a more stunning, unforgettable strike than John Arne Riise's against United back in 2001/02. The Norwegian had joined the Reds in the summer of 2001, and having endeared himself to the fans after scoring a vital goal at Everton, he reached new levels of popularity on this November day. The ferocity of his shot was unbelievable- if there were four goalkeepers in the goal it would have still gone in- and the fact that it goes in off the underside of the crossbar makes it that extra bit special. Anfield went bezerk, and it put Liverpool 2-0 up after Owen had given them an earlier lead. They would go on to win the match 3-1, as Houllier's men continued an excellent run of form against Ferguson's side. The 2001/02 season proved to be a very impressive one in the Premier League, with the Reds finishing second behind an extremely strong Arsenal side. Riise was a key player all season, scoring eight goals in 55 appearances. To this day, his free-kick is the first thing you think of when someone mentions his name.
