Liverpool's 10 Greatest Champions League Victories

5. Liverpool 2-1 Juventus (2005)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBsraNDmuBU Prior to that amazing win over Chelsea, Benitez's Liverpool side had had to overcome a hugely talented Juventus team in the quarter-finals. The Turin giants had the likes of Gianluigi Buffon, Lilian Thuram, Fabio Cannavaro, Pavel Nedved and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their side at the time, and not many people gave the Reds a chance. They produced a magnificent display in the first-leg at Anfield, however. They came flying out of the starting blocks, playing with incredible intensity and quality, and having created numerous opportunities to open the scoring, it took just 10 minutes for Liverpool to go ahead. Gerrard's corner was flicked on at the near post, and it was met superbly on the volley by Sami Hyypia. Fifteen minutes later, Benitez and his side were in dreamland. Garcia, who was becoming something of a talisman in the Champions League that season, thundered a remarkable 30-yard effort past Buffon, and the Serie A club didn't know what had hit them. The visitors rallied after the break and started to take control, and although Cannavaro's header evened the tie up hugely, it was still a fantastic win. Liverpool held firm in the return leg in Turin, grinding out a 0-0 draw to book their spot in the last-four.
