Liverpool's 10 Greatest Premier League Victories

1. Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool - 2008/09

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGAusKj8FPI So here are we, number one. There have been some fantastic victories on this list, but none are as special as the humiliation they inflicted on United back in March 2009. The Reds were fresh off the back of a superb 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, and they knew they had to win at Old Trafford in order to keep their title hopes alive. When Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty put the hosts in front after 23 minutes, after Pepe Reina had fouled Ji Sung Park, Liverpool's chances looked slim to say the least. Barely anyone had ever come from behind to win at Old Trafford in the Premier League era. The Reds responded brilliantly though, and Fernando Torres capitalised on Nemanja Vidic's error to finish expertly past Edwin van der Sar. Just before the break Benitez's side were ahead. Gerrard was brought down in the area by Patrice Evra, and the skipper scored his spot-kick. The second-half was tight, but its key moment came with 13 minutes remaining. Vidic was sent-off for hauling down Gerrard when through on goal, and from the resulting free-kick Fabio Aurelio curled a superb effort into the net. The away end went bonkers. There was still time for Andrea Dossena to make it 4-1 before the end, putting the icing on the cake. It had been a special day in the history of Liverpool Football Club, and their best Premier League victory ever. Liverpool Starting XI: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Hyypia, Aurelio, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Riera, Torres. Please let us know your top 10 in the comments section.
