Liverpool's 10 Greatest Premier League Victories

5. Everton 1-2 Liverpool - 2007/08

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42fThpgg9eU This may not have been the most important victory in Liverpool's Premier League history, but in terms of sheer drama and passion it is definitely up there with the best. Rafa Benitez's side made the short trip to Goodison Park to face David Moyes' Everton, in what is always one of the toughest games of the season. Anything can happen in those matches, and it proved to be a very controversial afternoon. It was Everton who took the lead after 37 minutes, with Hyypia skewing the ball into his own net. If the first-half was relatively low-key by Merseyside derby standards, the second-half was ferocious. Nine minutes after the interval Gerrard marauded through on goal, only to be taken down by Tony Hibbert. The Toffees' defender was sent-off and Liverpool were awarded a penalty. Dirk Kuyt expertly dispatched the spot-kick. The game ebbed and flowed, with both sides having chances to snatch victory, before Phil Neville's handball on the line in stoppage-time allowed Kuyt to squeeze home his second penalty of the game. There was still time for more drama, however. Carragher clearly fouled Joleon Lescott in the box, only for nothing to be given by the referee. The Reds had earned one of their most famous ever victories at Goodison Park. Liverpool Starting XI: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Gerrard, Mascherano, Sissoko, Benayoun, Voronin, Kuyt.
