Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers And Daniel Sturridge Win Monthly Awards

Liverpool have been recognised for their dream start to the 2013/13 Premier League season, as manager Brendan Rodgers has picked up the Manager of the Month award for August and in-form striker Daniel Sturridge has also won the Player of the Month award. Under Rodgers', Liverpool have won all three of their league games this season without conceding a goal - Daniel Sturridge netting the match winners in the 1-0 victories over Stoke City, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. Before a ball had been kicked, the Liverpool boss said he was keen to get off to a good start to hold the side in good stead, but even he couldn't believe how well his team have done early on - the 1-0 victory against fierce rivals Manchester United a particular highlight. While Rodgers and Sturridge have been singled out for awards, credit must go to the entire side as they have looked formidable in their early games this season. They've worked hard on shutting the opponent out, and it's having the desired effect for the Reds as they are yet to concede a league goal. They face their next opponents, Swansea City, on Monday at the Liberty Stadium. Swansea are looking for their first home league win of the season after losing to title holders Manchester United on the opening day.
