Louis van Gaal Man Utd Press Conference - 5 Things We Learned
3. He Doesn't Know How Long It Will Take Him To Turn Things Around
Manchester United endured their worst ever Premier League season in 2013-14, finishing seventh and failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995 and missing out on European football altogether for the first time in 14 years. If United fans were hoping for a quick fix, they may be disappointed with van Gaal admitting he doesn't know how long it will take him to turn things around. "I'll do my utmost....I can't give predictions. It's the biggest club in the world," van Gaal said when asked what sort of an impact he thinks he'll make at Old Trafford. Following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson last year, United fans knew there was likely to be an upturn in fortunes and that the 'glory glory' days could not go on forever. And while van Gaal has not promised an instant solution, he should at least be given the time to exercise his own philosophy at United and be given patience by those hoping the club will return swiftly to the top of the English game.
