2. The Way He Has Led The Charge To Messi And Ronaldo
Now don't jump to the comments to hurl rotten tomatoes at me just yet. I'm not suggesting he's anywhere near this calibre of player. What I am suggesting is that he's one of the leading candidates of players who are in the class bracket just below these two giants. Messi and Ronaldo are the Ultimate players - evidently world class and beyond everyone else. But the next bracket of world class players has a much bigger register and Suárez is one of the chiefs in this group. At certain times this season, I've found it difficult to find a player closer to the two best players in the world than Suárez. Bale and RVP are certainly two other members of this not quite Ronaldo/Messi group but they just don't excite and entertain as much as Luis. Liverpool's number 7 (I don't think we'll be saying that too much longer sadly) has the aggression, the tenacity and the guile that these two sometimes lack. In fact, these are some of the reasons which inspired me to write an article detailing
Suárez' PFA Player of the Year credentials - not that he can win it now. In many other generations of footballing talent, Suárez would easily find himself a class apart from the rest. It just so happens that he exists in a worldwide pool of exceptional talent which often far outstrips any of the past generations.
