Man City: 5 Key Points From Newcastle Victory

3. Yaya Toure Can Take Free-Kicks

Ok, so there's not much that Yaya can't do on a pitch. Despite being a midfielder, he's played in defence in a Champions League Final, scored the winner in an FA Cup Semi-Final and Final, and now he's staked his claim to be City's next set-piece specialist. The position is definitely open to applicants with Carlos Tevez's departure and Aleksander Kolarov potentially following him out of the exit door, but the Blues seem to have found their man in the Ivorian. His effort from 20 yards was expertly executed, giving Tim Krul no chance in the Newcastle goal. Sometimes, free-kicks can be trickier when they're so close to the area, as there's not much space to get the ball over the wall and under the cross-bar, but it just seemed to be second nature to Yaya. If he can convert a few more of these few through the season, then this could prove to be invaluable to his team's title ambitions.
