Man City: 5 Reasons Pellegrini Won't Win The Quadruple
5. The Tough League Run-In
Man City only have to look across town to Old Trafford to see how important post-Christmas form is. Man United reeled teams in like clockwork during their league run-ins, time and time again. While that is surely beyond the current United side, it remains an example for any wannabe league winners to follow. Whether Man City can do the same through what has become an ever-crowded fixture list is doubtful. Four competitions are a lot to handle, even without FA Cup replays such as the one they were forced into against Blackburn. As for their actual fixture list in the league, they will have definitely earnt the title should they win it. Pellegrini's men must yet travel to Tottenham, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Everton, while they also host Chelsea and Southampton. Considering the ambition is to win all four trophies, it will require a superhuman effort to get the required points total from those games to win the league. It should not be forgotten that Arsenal currently top the table and boast preferable fixtures, at least in April and May. If anyone has the squad to deal with such a run-in it is Man City, but they may live to regret their patchy away form, as they have little room to manouvere for the rest of the season. Can Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko, their deadly trio of strikers, deliver at the crunch?
