Man City: 5 Reasons Pellegrini Won't Win The Quadruple
4. Questions Remain Over Away Form
Much has been made of Man City's stunning home record, and it has indeed been fearsome. Arsenal were hit for six, as were Spurs. Even Man United, their great city rivals were given a kicking. However, it is hard to win any league, simply because it takes into account a team's home and away record. It is three points for a win, no matter where you play. This is where Man City's title challenge may fall short - the away form. Four defeats is more than bottom-half Aston Villa have racked up. Two of those defeats also came against teams in the relegation zone, with Sunderland and Cardiff both taking a maximum return. Villa, a team with only eight points at home all season, got three of those against Man City. Admittedly, four wins and a draw from their last five away games could suggest that Pellegrini has solved the problem, yet even then, Fulham, Swansea, and West Brom, all managed two goals against what remains a leaky Man City defence, and City's win at Newcastle was arguably their toughest win of the season, with Yaya Toure in particularly having an uncharacteristically even battle with Cheick Tiote. With trips to most of their main rivals on the horizon, including Barcelona in the Champions League, there is much work to do if City want that quadruple.
