is reportedly close to joining the club from Italian side Napoli. The South American has been in electric form this season and has also been courted by Chelsea thanks to his 29 goals in Serie A competition and 38 strikes in 43 overall appearances, and as such is valued at a hefty £50 million. Yet that sort of money is water off a duck's back for the ultra-rich ex-Champions who are desperate to strengthen their forward line by bringing in at least one of the five aforementioned stars. But it would be Cavani's signature that would be the biggest coup for City, and it is the sort of "marquee signing" that could help smooth over Pellegrini's passage to the Etihad hotseat following a relatively tepid response from the clubs supporters since learning that he is set to replace
crowd favourite Roberto Mancini.
