Man Utd 0-1 Everton - 5 Critical Mistakes David Moyes Made In Damaging Defeat
3. Poor Substitutions
With United searching for a winning goal late in the second half, Moyes rang the changes and brought on Nani and Adnan Januzaj on the hour mark - and neither made any sort of impact - the former reminded everyone of his penchant to frustrate by ballooning one effort sky high with his first touch while the latter saw one drive sting Tom Howard's hands but was otherwise an ineffectual presence. At 0-0, United were continuing to be frustrated by Everton - the champions hit the woodwork twice and found Howard in fine form, the American making a series of brilliant stops - and so when Javier Hernandez finally came on for Welbeck, with nine minutes left, you couldn't help but get the feeling that the substitution came far, far too late. When you're looking for a goal, you naturally want one of your best goal poachers in the box - but Hernandez had too little time to make any sort of impact when he eventually saw match action.
