Man Utd: 10 Stats That Prove Moyes Is Getting It All Wrong

7. What Does Young Do?

Granted, Ashley Young may come up with some brilliant moments of skill - most notably his goal against Stoke in the League Cup - but the main purpose of his position in the side is to create goals, which he simply hasn't done this season. In his 10 league games so far this season, the former Watford and Aston Villa winger is yet to register an assist for United - having created just 8 chances in those games. There's no avoiding that that is a terrible return for a player who sits in the top six assist givers since the beginning of the 2007/08 season (alongside fellow United players Nani, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney; Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas and the only opposition Premier League player on the list, Steven Gerrard). It seems all Young has been useful for this season is diving about and passing on his techniques to young Adnan Januzaj, who is currently making as much a name for himself through simulation as he is for making and scoring great goals.
