Man Utd 2-0 Cardiff - Player Ratings

Cardiff City

David Marshall (7) Could do nothing about van Persie's opener after seeing the United man head in from close range and likewise helpless to stop Young's screamer. Made a wonderful save to get a glove on Valencia's shot late on and tip onto the post to keep his side in the game. Declan John (4) Given a torrid time by Valencia down the left and found himself in one-on-one situations far too often. Failed to stop the United man who by contrast enjoyed a good game. Mark Hudson (4) Also endured a difficult game and hauled off with 20 minutes to go. Seemed to struggle in possession of the ball and couldn't contain van Persie. Steven Caulker (6) Did a better job in tracking van Persie and worked hard to contain the Dutchman. Valencia on the other hand got in behind him far too often. Kevin McNaughton (5) Bombed forward to support Craig Noone whenever possible and sent in an inviting cross in the first half that nearly found the head of Fraizer Campbell. Looked a threat from the back.
