Man Utd 2-1 Arsenal - 5 Things The Gunners Learned

3. Arsenal Are Afraid of United

Wenger might claim to have gotten over the 8-2 debacle of last year, but it was clear from the very start that the Arsenal players on the pitch were quaking in their boots with terror. They were making sloppy passes, hacking United players down in panic, and were not clearing balls properly from the box. Aaron Ramsey might have been the only player to feature in the same fixture a full year ago, but the mentality of the Arsenal team was bruised, cut, and ultimately fragile. Arsenal's forays into the Manchester half was timid and unconvincing, and the belief was absent. The most frustrating thing about this is that Arsenal more than have the quality to challenge the big dogs of the Premier League. We were sharper than Manchester City at the Etihad, and we were on equal footing with the Chelsea blue when we hosted them at the Emirates. There is no reason to be afraid of the Red Devils, and this is something the team is going to have to work on by really believing in the team's ability to take on any opponent of any quality.
