Man Utd: 5 Factors That Prove David Moyes Is Still The Man For The Job

3. Rooney Has Not Looked This Good For A While

One player who has surprised everyone this season with his fine performances has been Wayne Rooney. This is not so much because he's a bad player, but because he and Moyes famously do not get on since the striker left the Toffees for United back in 2004. At the time only a raw youngster, Rooney moved for a huge £27million fee, and he has gone on to become one of the best players in the club's history. However, the England international has in the last couple of years been linked with a host of top clubs, with a reported transfer request put in in the summer, and it appeared in the summer as though the appointment of Moyes was the last straw. One thing Moyes has done though is make peace with Rooney as well as turn him back into the superb player that made him such an icon shortly after he moved to United. He now has eight goals in the Premier League already this season, and when compared to the 12 goals he netted last season, he has improved a lot over the summer. Their is a new hunger about Rooney's game that had been missing for some time, seen mainly in the 1-0 win over league leaders Arsenal back in early November. The striker looks in deadly form once more, and has thrived in the hole behind Robin van Persie, where he is able to dictate play. The new backroom staff and management at the club have seemingly upped his fitness, and Moyes has brought out the Rooney he saw back when he coached him as an 18-year-old.
