2. Experienced Players Not Performing And Who Need To Go
For so long Manchester United have relied on certain players who make the team's spine and who made players around them look better. I am talking about, in particular: Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs. These are players who, when United have had the back against a wall, helped them escape. These players arguably carried United for years. Years ago, they made the frankly average players around them look far better. But every player has his day, and it is fair to say these players have had theirs. When these types a players fail to perform, along with persistent injuries, United will often struggle without them. Remember the days when Ferdinand and Vidic were a wall in front of frightened strikers? They are gone. Remember the days when Giggs was a pacey, fit and ever reliable player? Gone, many a year ago. Although these players no longer carry United and are not at the heart of the team any more, they can all still have futures at the club, but all need to show what they can do or face the boot. If Moyes does decide to let them go, just to put it into perspective, he would be throwing away: 139 years of experience, 29 Premier League titles between them and five Champions League titles away. Tough choice.
