Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why Red Devils' Title Challenge Is Over

3. Home Form

A staple of the Alex Ferguson era was "Fortress Old Trafford," a mentality of impenetrability that was built almost into a mythological level that was inherently designed to impact the mentality of visiting opposition. That simply is not the case any more for the red half of Manchester. So far this term, they have scored a mere 14 points from a possible 30 at home. They've lost at home to Everton, a feat David Moyes never managed in his 11 years in charge of the Toffees. They're 11th in the "Home Form" table, behind Stoke City, Newcastle United, and even Hull City, and they've lost 40% of their home games, and won 40% - both figures would have set off the alarm bells in previous seasons. In stark contrast, the blue half of Manchester have a 100% home record so far this season. 10 games, 10 wins, and it's that sort of statistic that marks the form of champions - especially when you look at the goals for column.
