Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why They're Running Away With The Title

1. Robin Van Persie & His Goals

robinvanpersie I have already alluded to Robin van Persie and his goals, but his importance to the side cannot be overstated. He has been absolutely crucial for Manchester United this season, demonstrated by the fact that he is the top scorer at Old Trafford with 23 goals. He looks every inch like the best transfer signing in years. Roberto Mancini admitted ahead of New Year's Day that his failure to lure the Dutch maestro to the Etihad could cost his side the title and his goals are certainly proving to be the difference between the two Manchester clubs, especially when the Holland striker thumped in a free-kick in the 90th minute at the Etihad to seal a 3-2 win for the Red Devils and hand them the incentive in the title race. The former Arsenal forward looks unstoppable this season and he has outperformed Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko on every level this term. Ferguson's success in landing his signature last summer looks like being the tipping point in the title race, and the fact that he was awarded the number 20 shirt at a club who is chasing a record twentieth league title at the beginning of the season was, and is proving to be, an ominous gesture.
