Man Utd To Appoint Louis Van Gaal As New Manager

Manchester United are expected to announce Louis van Gaal as their new manager within the coming days while club legend Ryan Giggs will stay on in a No.2 role. The Mirror today report Giggs has accepted van Gaal's offer to extend his stay at Old Trafford after meeting with the Netherlands coach in the Dutch seaside town of Noordwijk on Wednesday. Also in attendance was executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, with the meeting - taking place during a designated rest-day at Holland€™s pre World Cup training camp - the clearest indication yet that van Gaal's appointment is imminent. It is believed the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has already agreed a two-year contract to take over from next season - with the option of a third - and will pick up around £7 million a season. While van Gaal's appointment nearing its conclusion is the big news, fans will be glad the legendary Giggs is staying on, with many tipping him to become the club's manager following van Gaal's reign. However, Giggs now looks set to end his distinguished playing career having made 963 appearances for the club, with van Gaal wanting the Welshman to focus exclusively on the coaching side of the game.
