Manchester United's midfield woes are well-documented. Last season, Marouane Fellaini and Tom Cleverley were ineffectual while Darren Fletcher has just returned from a serious illness and Michael Carrick is nearing the winter of his career. The signing of Ander Herrera is a step in the right direction - but he can do only so much. The fact United have only three central midfielders on their current tour of the USA in Herrera, Cleverley and Fletcher shows there is still more work left to be done in this area, and that another world class acquisition is needed. Vidal would be that world class addition. Nicknamed Il Guerriero ("The Warrior") by the Italian press, the Chilean is a Roy Keane-type player who roams the pitch box-to-box and is just as well versed in his attacking duties as he is in defence. Playing Vidal alongside Herrera in front of the defence in a 4-3-3 formation next season would give the Red Devils enormous protection with Vidal known for his tough-tackling and combative style of play, while the Chilean's sheer physicality would give the side the leadership from the back lost with the departure of Nemanja Vidic. If United can sign Il Guerriero this summer, their midfield would be all the better for it.
