Daily Star, Manchester United are restarting contract discussions with England forward Danny Welbeck after the two parties failed to agree a deal earlier in the summer. The 21-year-old English striker is highly rated at Old Trafford and is seen as the future of the club. Uniteds number 19 is entering his final 12 months of his £16,000-a-week deal and wants around £60,000-a-week in his next contract. Welbeck scored 12 goals in 38 appearances last season for the Red Devils and has now overtaken Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez as a favorite to start alongside Wayne Rooney. As well being an important player for Manchester United, he also found himself in Roy Hodgsons Euro 2012 squad and managed to start all four games at the finals, scoring once. Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he does not want to match ridiculous contracts deals, which could suggest that Welbecks demands may not be met. Discussion will no doubt continue over the next few months, even if Fergie doesnt want to throw away money having a young talent such as Welbeck is key to the clubs success.
