Man Utd Transfer News: Marouane Fellaini Signs For £27.5 Million

Manchester United have signed Marouane Fellaini from Everton for £27.5 million, according to the BBC. The 25-year-old becomes manager David Moyes's second signing of the summer following the capture of fullback Guillermo Varela and comes after James McCarthy was allowed to leave Wigan for Goodison Park for £13 million as the Belgian's replacement. Fellaini had earlier handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through the move to the Premier League champions, who had seen two offers for the powerful midfielder - of £28 million plus add-ons and latterly £36 million - fail. The second of those bids was to include left-back Leighton Baines, who is staying at Everton. Instead, there is speculation that a season-long loan deal for Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao has been agreed, though this has yet to be confirmed. The deal sees Moyes reunited with Fellaini, who the Scotsman signed for Everton from Standard Liege back in 2008. Fellaini made 177 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 33 goals in that time. The highlights of his career at the Merseyside outfit involved being voted the club's Young Player of the Season in 2009 and finishing as a runner up in that year's FA Cup final.
