Man Utd Transfer News: Moyes To Offer Zaha And £7 Million For Leighton Baines
According to The Sun, Manchester United manager David Moyes is preparing to offer Wilfried Zaha and £7 million in an attempt to make Leighton Baines the second first-team player to follow him to Old Trafford this season. Moyes who succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson following his retirement earlier this year, splashed out almost £30 million bringing midfielder Marouane Fellaini with him from Goodison Park on the final day of the summer transfer window and is now interested in bringing in Leighton Baines at the start of the new year. United have been linked several times with the left-back in the last few years but with Patrice Evra showing signs of ageing this season, the Red Devils are hoping to land the English-man and strengthen the squad. The Premier League champions made a joint bid for Fellaini and Baines in the summer worth £28 million but despite spending almost that on Fellaini alone they are now attempting to save any cash by including a player in the Baines deal. Not only would signing Baines strengthen the left-back position but the 28-year-old could easily play further up the left wing, helping Moyes sort out United's attacking play with Nani and Young both not impressing in recent games. The source claims that Moyes is set to dispose of promising winger Zaha, who has failed to get any first-time action since joining from Crystal Palace for £15 million earlier this year. Zaha has found his United career frustrating having played in just two competitive fixtures and with Adan Janazej been given a real push by United, Zaha is stuck on the bench. Everton are said to be interested in the possibility of loaning the 20-year-old but it is unclear whether they would want the player of a permanent basis.
