Man Utd Transfer News: Nemanja Vidic Is AC Milan Target?

Metro. The Serbian international, 31, is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and, having seen him feature in just 18 of United's 44 matches this season, manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be tempted to listen to offers. The defender has been blighted with injuries for much of the current campaign and only made 10 appearances last season following a knee injury. He was also dropped to the bench in favour of Jonny Evans in the club's recent Champions League clash with Real Madrid earlier this month. Milan however believe he could be the ideal defensive partner for Philippe Mexes and the replacement for Thiago Silva, who joined mega-rich Qatar-owned Paris Saint Germain last summer. The Italian side are understood to be reluctant to pursue targets over the age of 25, however are believed to be willing to make a rare exception for a player of the caliber of Vidic, who has made 259 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit, where he won the Champions League in 2008. Milan trail leaders Juventus by 11 points in Serie A and are keen to bolster their defensive ranks when the transfer window re-opens this summer.
