Man Utd Transfer News: Robin Van Persie "Should Join Reds"
Robin Van Persie should join Manchester United, according to former Red Devils defender Gary Pallister.
"Strikers get frustrated at City and I don't think Van Persie would be rotated as much at United. Van Persie has proven he is top quality and I don't think he would have any problem establishing a lethal partnership with Wayne Rooney, so if it's for footballing reasons, then I think Manchester United would be the ideal place for him. Both Manchester clubs are going toe to toe in the battle to sign the Dutch Ace, and former City defender Danny Mills concedes that whilst his former club won the Premier League last season, Old Trafford is the place to be to win silverware.
"Manchester United are still, in terms of club, bigger on a worldwide basis. Manchester City are still up and coming. "In terms of challenging for the Champions League, if that's what Van Persie really wants, I think Manchester United would be the better option for him."As it stands, Arsenal have rejected all offers for their captain, who was last season's PFA Player of the Year and the winner of the Golden Boot Award with 30 league goals, equalling the record of club legend Thierry Henry. He has however refused to sign a new contract at the Emirates, and with his current deal expiring at the end of the 2012/13 season, Arsene Wenger risks losing him on a free transfer should he refuse to bow to pressure and sell. Both Manchester Clubs and Serie A Champions Juventus have had bids believed to be in the region of £15million rejected, with Arsenal holding out for at least £20million, but Alex Ferguson is confident he will land his man after previously missing out on Eden Hazard to Chelsea and cooling interest in Lucas Moura.
