Man Utd Transfers: 10 Deals Van Gaal Still Needs To Complete

4. Danny Welbeck - OUT

It might seem baffling to some Manchester United fans, but England striker Welbeck has now been told that he is fourth choice at the club and is now free to look elsewhere for first team football. Whether Van Gaal is right in that assessment remains to be seen, but it is clear that Wayne Rooney and Van Persie should be the undisputed first choices and that doesn't leave much of a chance for Welbeck. Despite his helpful home-grown status in the squad, United have apparently told Welbeck to move on, and it makes sense to get rid as quickly as possible, particularly with the need to balance the books at least a little. For Welbeck it is a cruel reality, but his own personal development will require that he moves on - even if his current owners will apparently block a move to a top six side. Perhaps he could fill the currently vacant first choice striker position at Newcastle?
