Man Utd Transfers: 10 DREAM Signings David Moyes Could Make This Month
9. Ezequiel Garay
As well as issues at left-back, United also have problems at centre-back because Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are no longer the powerhouses of old. The duo have so often been the rock-solid foundation of which much of the Red Devil's successes have been built upon in the past but age has robbed each of fitness and subjected both to patchy injury records. The two simply cannot play together anymore with Vidic managing only three league appearances since the start of December and Ferdinand one since November 24. And, as Fabio and Alexander Büttner are pale imitations of Evra, so too are Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling of Ferdinand and Vidic. A top-class centre-back replacement is what is needed and one option is Benfica's towering and imposing Ezequiel Garay, who was heavily linked with the club last summer. Garay is similar in build and stature to the once-menacing Vidic and would seem an ideal replacement option but United fans may have to keep on dreaming as the Argentinian looks set to join Zenit St Petersburg instead.
