Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Ole Solskjaer Must Make Immediately
6. Christian Eriksen – Tottenham
For Manchester United fans, their side’s lack of any consistent flair over the past few years has often made for dull and dire viewing. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to inject some creativity into his squad, Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen could be the perfect player to pull the strings in the United midfield.
Eriksen has gone public with his desire to "seek a new challenge" and Spurs may be forced to sell one of their star men ahead of him being able to walk away for free when his contract expires in 2020. With Eriksen’s oft-mooted move to Real Madrid now looking unlikely – largely down to Los Blancos's pursuit of Paul Pogba – the playmaker is maybe a little short of options as he weighs up the Tottenham exit door.
You could make the argument that any move to Old Trafford would be a step down for the Dane, particularly with Spurs having reached the final of last season’s Champions League, yet United could afford to offer a particularly lucrative deal to the former Ajax man should they receive a boost to their transfer kitty from the sale of Pogba.
Considering that Eriksen is underpaid in a relative sense – earning a reported £75,000-per-week – the financial rewards of switching the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Old Trafford could be too good to turn down.
