Alternatively, United could go in for Marco Reus this winter. The highly-rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder has impressed this season, scoring eight Bundesliga goals in 17 appearances, and is predicted to star for Germany at the World Cup. Along with United, Bayern Munich and London duo Arsenal and Tottenham are believed to be interested, and Reus is valued at about £28 million. All four interested parties will be aware that market value is likely to shoot right up should the midfielder enjoy a successful tournament later this summer and making a move now may well be sensible before his valuation becomes over-inflated. Reus has watched on as Dortmund teammates Mario Gotze and latterly Robert Lewandowski joined domestic rivals Bayern but the starlet recently gave United hope of landing his services by distancing himself from a move to the European champions. The 24-year-old is under contract at the Westfalenstadion until 2017 but that has not stopped persistent rumours linking him with a move away.
