Man Utd Transfers: 5 Areas Moyes Must Strengthen In January

5. Left Back

An area that Moyes desperately tried to strengthen in the summer, left back has been a concern for some time now at Old Trafford. Former boss Ferguson attempted to bridge the gap with the signing of Alexander Buttner last year, with Patrice Evra already 32-years-old, but the young Dutchman has not really been given much chance to prove himself at the club. Meanwhile, France international Evra's performances have been dwindling for some time now, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, his time in Manchester could be fast running out. Moyes made no secret of chasing his former defender Leighton Baines over the summer in a bid to look for a long term replacement for Evra, whilst a loan move for Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao was also scuppered in the final minutes of the summer transfer window. The club look set to make a signing in this area in the January window, with either of the two players mentioned above favourites to replace Evra in the side, and a signing made sooner rather than later would be welcomed by the club's fans.
