Man Utd Transfers: 5 Areas Moyes Must Strengthen In January

1. Another Central Midfielder

Ok, so maybe I am going on about this a lot, but it cannot be denied, and I can't emphasise this enough. Man United need a central midfielder, possibly even two, and perhaps Modric and Gundogan could both arrive at Old Trafford in the not to distant future. Unlikely but possibly. I realise what I am suggesting with all of these positions is a massive overhaul of the first team squad, but what's wrong with that? A team who won the league last season and now find themselves five points behind, of all teams Arsenal, need a bit of a kick in the right direction. Despite the plethora of strikers at United, the rest of the team needs a shake up, and with expensive purchases like Kagawa still needing to prove their worth, some of the answers to these positions could staring Moyes right in the face. But in the case of a central midfielder, Kagawa is not the man they can utilise as a deep lying midfielder, and neither is Tom Cleverley, who although blessed with talent, has a lot to do to prove he is up to the task. Fellaini is also not the man for the job, with the Belgium international neither one thing nor the other, and quite why Moyes felt it necessary to spend £27.5 million on him is beyond me. What is needed is guile and creativity to aid Rooney in his quest to feed Robin van Persie, and that can only come from a player of Modric or Gundogan's quality. What is certain is that Moyes' ability to attract the big names to his club will probably be given its sternest challenge yet in the coming months. Any other positions you think we have missed? Tell us who you would like to see arrive at United!
