Man Utd Transfers: 5 Essential Summer Targets For David Moyes

2. Kevin Strootman

Now that Paul Scholes has hung up his boots for the second - and final - time, the Reds need a new creative and attacking midfielder and Strootman could be just the ticket. His manager Dick Advocaat took the unprecedented move in telling his star player to move on recently, saying:
" Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but I think he's also good enough for Manchester City and Manchester United. Strootman is nothing less than Gareth Barry. He's a very useful player for every team. Especially when he's surrounded by better players. "For PSV it would be good if he stays, but for Strootman himself it's better to leave."
Those comments would seem to suggest Eindhoven would be receptive to a bid for the midfielder, and would not stand in the way of a move should the Dutchman decide to join fellow countryman Robin van Persie at Old Trafford.
