Man Utd Transfers: 5 Greatest Foreign Imports

4. Ruud Van Nistelrooy Appearances: 150 Goals: 95 Signed from PSV Eindhoven in 2001 for a then British record fee, Van Nistelrooy entered English football weighed down by a heavy price tag. Though, if this price tag affected Van Nistelrooy mentally, he certainly did not show it. While he may have only won one title in 5 seasons at United, this was largely down to the transitional period that United found themselves in at the time, as well as the might of Arsenal and Chelsea sides under Wenger and Mourinho. It is the sheer volume of goals scored during his United career that easily secure his place on this list. He had a goal ratio of almost 2:3, a record impressive at any level. While Van Nistlerooy may not have been a flair player, or scored particularly wonderful goals (barring of course his solo effort against Fulham in 2003), the importance of his goals for United were there for all to see. To this day Van Nistelrooy remains United's leading goalscorer in European competition. Source: rvn10
