2. Robert Lewandowski
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Robert Lewandowski
since last year but their hopes appeared to have been dashed when it was reported the striker would instead sign for Bayern Munich. It was widely expected the Borussia Dortmund man would switch allegiances and join his side's biggest domestic rivals, but that no longer appears to be the case. Lewandowski recently
distanced himself from a move to the European champions, saying:
"I will be able to sign a contract (with any club] in January, but I have never said that I will sign a contract with Bayern. "It was a misunderstanding."
And that will give a huge boost to David Moyes if he does find himself in the market for a new striker in the New Year, with Lewandowski considered one of the best on the continent. The Polish international netted 24 Bundesliga goals last season and 10 in Europe to finish the Champions League campaign as the second highest goalscorer behind only Cristiano Ronaldo. He also became the first player in history to score four goals in one game against Ronaldo's Real Madrid when Dortmund prevailed over Los Blancos in that season's semi-finals. And the thought of him linking up again with Shinji Kagawa at Old Trafford is a tantalizing prospect, considering the duo were so lethal together during their playing days at the Westfalenstadion.
