Man Utd Transfers: 5 January Replacements For Robin Van Persie

3. Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao could spark a big-money bidding war for his services in the New Year having grown disillusioned with life at new club Monaco. The 27-year-old has asked the French outfit to let him leave in January - sensationally just four months after joining from Atletico Madrid. Falcao is understood to be unhappy with his current contract, which sees him earn ‚7 million-a-year after tax rather than the ‚14 million originally agreed as part of his transfer, and wants out. Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Colombian goalmachine, who scored 28 La Liga goals last season and has already found the back of the net nine times in Ligue 1 this term. Man Utd are also interested, but both would probably have to stump up somewhere close to the £80 million mark to bring to an end Falcao's shot stint in France. That's clearly an eye-watering sum, but Moyes needs to spend big in the next window to make up for his failings over the summer, and landing Falcao would be a huge statement of intent - particularly if van Persie quits.
