Man Utd Transfers: 5 More Marquee Signings David Moyes Could Make
4. Ezequiel Garay
David Moyes also has to look into bringing in a world-class centre-half between now and summertime because Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are no longer the players they used to be. Once the rock-solid foundation of which much of United's successes were built upon, now they are shadows of their former selves, blighted by a lack of fitness and form. Ferdinand will be 36 this November while Vidic's long-standing knee problems have kept him out of the side at various stages over the last couple of seasons. And that's one of the reasons why Moyes is looking into signing Ezequiel Garay this month, with the Benfica centre-half a long-standing target for the Red Devils. Garay almost joined United last year before Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson and the robustly-built Argentinian has again been linked with a move to Old Trafford this month. However, Zenit St Petersburg are also interested and the Russians could attempt to crash the party by swooping for Garay themselves. Which is why United need to act fast if they are to sign a player who has been hailed as the successor to Rio Ferdinand.
