Man Utd Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Fergie Must Buy In This Transfer Window

3. The Future Of Nani

Nani After years of uncertainty following his move to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, winger Nani finally lived up to expectations in the last two seasons, which saw him score a combined total of 20 goals from midfield. But this season has been different. He has struggled for form with a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of action since last November, and there has also been rumours of uncertainty regarding his future at United. Reports appeared last August that talks of a new contract with the club had collapsed, following "over the top" demands by the player, who only has two years left to run on his current deal, which is worth £90,000-a-week. The winger reportedly wants that to be increased by £40,000-a-week to £130,000. With such uncertainty surrounding his future, as well as his lengthy injury lay-off, Ferguson has been left with just two fit wingers in the form of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia. If one of them sustains injury, Ferguson would be left short in that department, and might want to consider a long-term replacement for Nani anyway. Source(s): The Sun
