Man Utd Transfers: 5 Signings To Ensure Continued Success Under David Moyes

4. Leighton Baines

Another area of United's defence that needs addressing by David Moyes ahead of the new campaign is at left back and with Patrice Evra celebrating entering his 32nd year today, there are concerns the Reds have lost that yard of pace at the back. Evra has been one of United's most consistent and reliable players in recent times and his frequent contributions going forward as a "wingback" have helped establish him as a fan favourite. However, the veteran Frenchman has been known to be caught out of position at times this season due to his ever decreasing mobility and has thus occasionally become a liability. Moyes is planning on raiding old club Everton of a few players and the second of which is Leighton Baines, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since November. He's four years younger than Evra, is quicker, sharper, and also shares many similar traits with the Frenchman in that he too contributes to the attack and both creates and scores goals - he's netted five times so far this season. He has arguably been the best left back in the Premier League this season and would be a terrific replacement for Evra.
